What do you think happens to all the old tires when they are unsafe to be used for your vehicle? For the most part, they will end up in a landfill, or maybe a rope swing by a river or in a back yard (to play leapfrog of course), but there is only the slimmest of chances for these tires to be recycled. In most occasions, the only alternative is to get rid of then, but then again; this leads to higher littering rates and hideous roadsides. This bright young Brazilian artist had the most brilliant idea and decided to take this matter into his own two hands.

The genius artist behind all this is Amarildo Silva. Well, here’s what he does: he finds any old tires, may it be disused or abandoned, and paints them in bright, catchy colors, and then drills and attaches handles to these painted tires. Once the handles are attached to these brightly colored tires, they get comfy bedding and pillows for their new owners: animals. Yes, you heard right, animals. Amarildo revamps these discarded old tires for both home pets and strays. When he sells these, he paints on the pet’s name on the side, so each tire is personalized, and are the perfect beds for home pets or strays alike, and this is one Brazilian who loves what he does.

Nevertheless, even with the good that he is doing, since in the town where Amarildo lives, there’s a lot of violence, so he wants to send out a positive message, not just about lending a helping hand to animals, but also about keeping the streets safe. He posts his work on Instagram and always captions them with a positive message, and one of his posts says “The Brazil that I want, is a Brazil with less violence and more work. I’m not making an apology for crime, quite the contrary, do as I do instead of a weapon, but a tool in your hand and go yourself fix your life and who knows to change the reality of our Brazil.”
