Around the world, hundreds and thousands of wild animals are being forced to deal with the loss of their homes. The effects of deforestation take place. Sad to say, the heartbreaking scenes depicting helpless, miserable animals become more frequent day by day. Due to this issue, more and more wild species are facing extinction more than ever.
In Queensland, Australia, a painful scene was captured, which showed a confused koala, after its home was cut down due to deforestation. Once its habitat is removed from the face of the earth, the helpless animal might question, “What happened to my home?” the poor critter was eventually named Ash, was found by a volunteer of the animal rescue group Wildcare Australia Inc.. As it turned out, Ash had got itself injured, and therefore, transferred to a veterinary hospital.
However, as the Gold Coast City Council approved it, the clearing of land was perfectly legal, but the effects it had on the ecosystems were devastating. As the Dodo reports, in Queensland, almost 680,000 acres of forests were cleared within a year.
Although Ash lost his home, it turned out that Ash had a happy ending to his story after all, as he managed to escape alive. The volunteer who found Ash says, “Ash is being cared for overnight by one of our koala carers and will then be admitted to the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s wildlife hospital for a full health assessment. She is currently enjoying a large bucket of fresh eucalyptus leaf, which she is quickly devouring.”
As the Koala population has been recently declared functionally extinct, the Australian Koala Foundation has announced that there are only less than 80,000 Koalas left in the wild, and the primary food source of the koalas’ is also running short due to deforestation and climate change.
