Being great hunters, these majestic African cats, roam the plains in search of food. They are able to hunt with incredible power, and disturbing accuracy, and I sure don’t want them to have me for lunch. Being fiercely loyal, pride always sticks together. However, they love incredibly well. A few photos captured in the Masai Mara, shows a lion giving his cub a hug, in a scene which looks straight out of a Lion King movie!

Masai Mara National Park, which is situated in Kenya, Africa, is a huge expanse of a park where hundreds of protected species can roam freely. Most of the time, the park funds itself with safaris and tourism, where 53-year-old Parisian Sabine Bernert was on safari where she was able to capture the iconic shots. She was researching on lions to write about them for a children’s book, and it was very clear that they are nothing more than larger versions of our usual household cats, and it is obvious where the inspiration for the Lion King film came from!

Sabine instantly fell in love with the special moment she witnessed, and she says, “The lion pretended he hadn’t seen the cubs until the last second. Then they started to play joyfully. I especially love the moment when the male lion is hugging the cub softly. The contrast between his brute strength and his gentleness, the huge size of his paw very softly holding the little cub. I was amazed by the way this huge lion was playing so gently with the cub…”. She also states that “they really looked like they were enjoying themselves and having fun. With the delicate light of the sunrise, it was a pure moment of grace.”

We surely hope that these stunning moments and images are portrayed in Sabine’s book!
