Lost Dog Reunited With Owner After Two Years Thanks to Social Media Shares

Most strays struggle to fend for themselves on the streets, as they depend on the kindness of people who are willing to share their scraps with them. So, when some volunteers from a shelter in Ukraine, found a blue-eyed, confused and unhealthy dog, they took him in and did their best to nurture him to his former self.

From the looks of the dog, which had mange, it was obvious that his life on the streets was not east. The volunteers, not assuming the dog already had a home, really wanted to find him a nice home as well.

First things first, the shelter staff put up the dog’s picture on social media, expectant that it would help find potential adopters for this poor soul, not knowing that in a matter of days, the photo will go viral and help reveal the true story of this little pup, with the saddest eyes they’ve ever seen. People from all over the world were sharing the photo of this little dog.

Just 2 days later, after the photo went viral, the shelter gets a call from a woman, saying that this dog resembles the one that was stolen from her back yard 2 years ago. Galina Lekunova, one of the shelter workers told The Dodo, “She’d been looking for her dog for two years”, which left everybody wondering whether this dog that stole their hearts belonged to this lady.

The shelter workers requested her to visit the shelter to see how the dog would react, and what they saw that day was something extraordinary. It was a touching reunion which was unfolding right before their eyes. The shelter wrote that this moment was “tears of joy in the morning!”

Learning that the dog’s actual name was Lord, everybody was ecstatic that he was finally reunited with his rightful owners again. However, if it wasn’t for each and everyone who shared Lord’s picture on social media, none of this would have come to pass. Finally, the shelter wrote, “We thank everyone who shared our post. Thanks to you the dog’s life was saved, and peace returned to his owner’s soul!”
